Building Relationships Print E-mail
trustWhat is one thing that takes a long time to build that can be destroyed in no time at all?

Trust.

All communication, whatever the medium, is about creating trust and building credibility.

There are only two types of relationships ... long term and very long term. The rest are just transactional activities.

Relationships are about the creation of mutual value. One sided relationships will always end, sooner or later.

One of the issues raising its head this week is where people and businesses are seeking to build relationships with people and organisations more powerful than them.

Obviously you can see the benefit of such relationships, it really is obvious.

As one client on the receiving end asked ... what's the value in such a relationship to me, where is the reciprocity?

The entitlement trap is a big one.

Relationships aren't about entitlement; they don't happen because of entitlement, they don't work because of entitlement, they don't work because of position.

Small business has a very real advantage in building trust and relationships.

Relationships happen with the design of a healthy value exchange.
