Are you as passionate about your business as your sport or hobby? Print E-mail

altA common thread that is appearing in small business conversations is passion.

Get passionate about what you do.
Passion for your business is an essential ingredient when building a business.
Passion is what makes people believe.

Passion is more often related to relationships, sport (particularly golf), the arts, theater, movies where people exude enthusiasm. But what about business passion?

What if you had people saying this about you?

  • What a wonderful man,it makes me so happy to see him loving what he does in life :)
  • This guy is amazing.
  • The thing that really came across to me was this guys absolute passion for his business.
  • His passion makes me want to go visit his business, even though I'm not a soft drink consumer.
  • Interestingly his passion inspires others to make passionate comments
  • I would gladly watch anyone with this level of passion - for anything.
  • I love the moment where he grabs the bottle unscripted and does a demo with the producer. Classic
  • Makes me want to go to LA and find the store. I'd have to start drinking soda again if I did. Looks like a pretty cool store though. I'd like to meet him.
  • Imagine loving your work this much and how happy it must make a person. And how happy must this customers be?
  • Now there is a man with PASSION, I love it. Why did I watch the whole thing.... he told a story, he supported the underdog, he didn't hard sell a product he showed you he LOVED it. Now when I go near the fridge to buy a soda I'm going to feel let down by the lack of choice!
So who is this guy and what's your impression of him and his business.
John Nese is the proprietor of Galcos Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lovers destination.
About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers.
Galcos also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).
Challenge: What can you do or say that delivers the passion you have for your business to your clients?
So you have come up with an idea ... don't just keep it that way ... act on it.
