| Death is about renewal |

When a business you are involved with closes its doors you are forced to reassess what matters most. The concept of death and dying is a part of life (the circle of life), and many have difficulty in coming to grips with this.
What is important is that when major events happen in our life, we learn to use that time to renew the way we work and relate to others.
After pondering over this for a while, after a recent family funeral, the answer hit me.
As a part of my reflection two questions arise Q1 What does my business need from me today?I ask this question all the time This isn't about what I'd like to be doing, what someone else figures I should be doing ... what is the best value I can bring to my business right now? I struggle with this at times, when clients impose on the time I need to devote to the growth and development of my business. If we focus on the squeeky wheel we may be missing more important issues. If I kept up my current actions for the next five years then I might be .... ? Scary one that eh? Ok so you are happy with your lot. Congratulations if that's the case. But if I suspect that like a lot of people you won't be proud of the results you are achieving after honestly giving this exercise some thought. Q2 Based on your current actions and behaviours, where would you expect to be in five years?Re read that question ... it isn’t asking "where you would like to be"; this is taking into consideration your current efforts and looking at where you would expect to be. As with the first question, answering this also requires you being totally truthful with yourself. Now it’s just up to each of us to change the things that we know we should.
