What's your excuse? Print E-mail

I've been travelling up and down inland Australia from Central Victoria to Western Queensland and back recently and learnt lots from my communication with business owners and their staff.

When you carry out a business in Mt Isa, which is situated 1800 kms from Brisbane, the nearest capital city, the stock standard excuse for not having products in your store ... it's on a truck somewhere.

Ok the given in Mt Isa is that most items are at least 10 days away via a truck. But using the truckies as an excuse for not having goods available smacks of being a victim to me. Quite simply order stock 10 days before you need it, call it “just in time + 10”

Listen to your language that you and your industry use.

This is an opportunity to take the lead, grab some credibility and wow your customers and clients by delivering service above that of your competitors.

What excuses does your business or industry have for things happening or not as the case may be?

What are you going to do to address this excuse and take the lead?
