| "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. The images of the recent Victorian bushfires serve to remind us that change can be forced on us, but like nature we too have a choice as to how we react to the external event. Change is the only constant in our lives, and at any time everyones business is changing, but at times like these we are focused on what we can't do, rather than what we can do, about the impact of change.
There are four simple steps to creating change Assess your positionWhere are we now?If you don't know where you are now then the next step on your path to change, will be a very difficult one. This may seem a given if you are considering travelling to the other side of the world from your home .. obviously you know where your home is.
Create a VisionWhere do you want to be?How many times have you set your sites on something huge, something amazing, knowing that this is it, that you’re really going for it ... only to find yourself back in the same situation?
Review the ChallengesWhat's in the way? When your compelling vision is dicussed with others some will say ... I tried it once .. it doesn’t work for my business. These people were remiss in realising that those things that "appear" to stand in our way of achieving our vision are the fuel for the fire to help us achieve our goals.
Act on your PlanHow are you going to get thereAction is the only thing that matters when it comes to change. Change happens when we can see that the future is a better place than where we currently are. Change happens when we set out what steps need to be taken and by when. Change happens when we break down the obstacles into managable pieces. Change happens when we review what we did against what we said we'd do. |
